Key Pieces: The purple muscle tee featuring the iconic image of Joe Strummer imprinted on the brand’s beloved “moth-eaten” fabric; the lightweight running jacket featuring an animal print design and the “RUN! PUNK! RUN!” tag on the back.
Editor’s Notes: Running-cum-fashion label Satisfy has launched its new SS18 collection, titled “RUN! PUNK! RUN!”, inspired by The Clash frontman Joe Strummer. The punk legend, who died in 2002, is said to have run both the London and Paris marathons (though some dispute whether or not he really completed Paris) during the peak of his fame. When asked by a reporter to describe his training, he said, “Drink 10 pints of beer the night before the race. Ya got that? And don’t run a single step at least four weeks before the race.”
The collection itself features a range of warm weather technical apparel, featuring ’80s-style details such as perforated mesh, safety pins, pops of pastel, and silks in muted tie-dye and leopard. A selection of pieces have also been printed with the original photograph of Joe at the starting line of the 1983 London Marathon, captured by music photographer Steve Rapport.
