Stüssy has been killing it lately. The California-based brand recently released its FW18 collection, after celebrating icon Bob Marley with a small capsule collection. But it’s the brand’s military beret that’s the latest piece to have caught our attention.
Alongside bold jackets, pants, tees, and shirts, some of this season’s standout pieces from Stüssy are its berets. Made available in colors such as black, burgundy, and lime green, the headwear is a grail amidst a trend that seems to be making a comeback this season, along with bucket hats.
And while bucket hats may be reminiscent of hip-hop’s golden era, the beret has a different but no less iconic path. First spotted as part of military uniform, berets were adopted by painters, directors, poets, political figures, and all kinds of free-thinkers — just think of Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, Yoko Ono, and Che Guevara.
And while it may not find a place in your everyday ’fits, there’s no doubting Stüssy’s beret’s ability to turn heads. The pace at which they’re selling seems to be indicating the piece’s comeback, too — with the black version already sold out.
Fear not, though — the burgundy beret is still available, and can be copped via the link below.
