Where form meets function

As adidas Originals’ partnership with Daniel Arsham continues, they are now announcing the next stage in the ongoing collaboration with Hourglass, a short film exploring the artist’s life and creative work. Told in three parts of past, present and future, the picture is part-documentary and part-work of fiction.

The initial installment of Hourglass delves into Arsham’s childhood, most notably his experience of Hurricane Andrew as a young boy in 1992. All the while, the film goes back and forth between his artistic work in the present day and his traumatic past experiences, thus providing insight into the memories that have informed a large portion of Arsham’s creative practice, while the recurring appearance of an hourglass allows him to transport through time posing a fundamental question of causality.

You can look forward to the first portion of Hourglass being available for viewing from July 13 on
