Editor’s Notes: Following a surprise non-550 New Balance offering on April 7, Aimé Leon Dore is back teasing us again with a New Balance 650R collab. These aren't the Aimé Leon Dore 550s everyone's been waiting for, but they'll have to do for now.

The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 650R isn't entirely new — save the fresh red colorway – as the green, grey, and navy options dropped via pre-order in July 2021.

Sure enough, the collab's latest rollout for its 650R simply marks the shoe's official launch since its pre-order.

While the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 650R is obviously not the collab's 550s we all want, it definitely channels big 550 energy with its simplistic color palette and overall shape (but obviously in high-top form, duh).

The 650R sneaker features the collaboration's signature mesh-leather clash on the upper resting upon the rubber outsole.

The shoe oozes cozy vibes, and I'm talking aesthetically and physically. The 650R's plush high-top ankle appears to supply immense comfort, while the shoe's EVA cupsole guarantees support during a daily flex or game time.

Speaking of game time, the ALD x New Balance 650R arrives just on time for the collab's Masaryk Community Gym, which was announced to the public on April 17 via a mural by Jacob Rochester.

Many speculate the partnership's community gym will open soon.

Fellow Aimé Leon Dore fans, I know you've gotten your hopes up twice now, with the second one being this latest drop. But, sure enough, the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 650R isn't to be slept on.

Just think of it like this: now, your 550s won't be lonely when you cop them; they'll have an ALD x NB high-top companion.
