Balenciaga

Brand: Balenciaga

Season: Fall 2022 Couture

Buy: At Balenciaga's couture store in Paris

Editor's Notes: The celebrities at Balenciaga's latest spectacle may have overshadowed the couture, but a quick post-show scan of the collection reveals some noteworthy pieces — namely, a handbag that doubles as a speaker.

Made in collaboration with audio connoisseurs Bang & Olufsen, the double-duty accessory features a hardshell body that opens at the back to reveal a hidden compartment big enough to stash your phone, wallet, and keys.

The speaker grill is situated at the front, while control buttons are positioned at the top of the purse. The contraption is Bluetooth enabled for a wireless listening and carrying experience.

The piece is already available to purchase at Balenciaga's new couture store, which opened today at 10 Avenue George V.

The clever bag marks another win for creative director Demna, the mind behind a long list of viral designs including but not limited to: those platform "HardCrocs," the fan favorite Le Cagole bag, the intentionally shredded Paris sneaker, and those super-chunky stompers, recently worn by Kanye West.

In theory, the speaker bag — beaker? — is nifty. But don't expect to make any friends if you bring it to the beach.
