What We’re Saying: With anticipation for the Casablanca x New Balance XC-72 reaching a fever pitch, we can finally catch a breath soon as the racing-inspired collaboration is set to launch.

Official looks at the rugged-soled silhouette present a clean lineup comprised of tonal and heavy contrast panels set against some seriously laidback summer steez. In amongst the looks is a standout yellow, white, and red makeup, which has stepped up to pole position to lead the pack into global NB collections, alongside a pair done up in Casablanca's familiar orange, green, and white scheme.

“From when we first started working on the collaboration, we dubbed it the 'sports car for your feet' as it evokes that feeling of when you first saw a luxury car as a child, you knew it was a car.. but it was different to any car you’d seen before, it’s a feeling, a sense of wonder, designed to perform, designed to be special,” said Casablanca’s Creative Director and Art Director, Charaf Tajer and Steve Grimes.

Casablanca, who emerged as a surprise New Balance partner in early 2020 when the Parisian label debuted the 327, shared its latest New Balance sneaker collaboration during its SS22 Paris Fashion Week show. The XC-72 was also part of Casablanca’s FW21 collection, initially previewed in an orange and green colorway. The pairs on show as part of the SS22 collection feature more subtle colorways, combining different off-white tones with hits of orange and red.

The New Balance XC-72 is designed by Charlotte Lee, who was also in charge of the 327 and 237 models, and features the same ’70s design inspiration. The outsole, which was extended across the heel on the 327, is yet again a defining feature of the XC-72, featuring two different types of treads, separated down the middle, as Joe Grondin first previewed on Instagram here.
