Highsnobiety

A wise person once said that there are three things you need in your wardrobe: A good pair of jeans, the perfect T-shirt, and a well-worn pair of cowboy boots.

Well, that wise person is me. I did say that, and I really live by it.

Recently, my love for cowboy boots and the whole aesthetic that comes with them has started bubbling up again, resulting in countless of hours spent on eBay looking for crazy belts, bolo ties, and cowboy hats. There's just something about it that has me excited.

Recently, Gucci launched its Love Parade collection which was shown on Hollywood Boulevard late last year, and with it came plenty of cowboy hats. Until now, I hadn't really considered rocking one, but if Gucci makes them, I might as well play with the idea.

Miley Cyrus has been wearing plenty of Gucci lately, and she's also rocked the label's various cowboy hats, which has made me even more into the idea of making one a permanent piece in my summer wardrobe.

However, it might be her Southern roots that help her pull it off, I'm not sure it would hit the same on the gloomy streets of London.

Regardless, it goes without saying that cowboy hats, boots, belts – you name it – are a statement, and plenty of big brands have started to play with Western influences and aesthetics.

For example, Prada currently sells a saffiano leather logo bolo tie for $440. Gucci's cowboy hats are priced at $730 USD. Miu Miu, Khaite, Saint Laurent and more are selling cowboy boots. You get it, there are plenty of high-fashion items inspired by the wild, wild west.

Basically, where there's money to be made and an aesthetic to replicate, you already know the luxury giants will be there.

As Indie Sleaze makes its return, I'm hoping that we'll go back to the glory days of denim shorts paired with cowboy boots before we know it. The bedazzled, over-the-top belts have already become a favorite on TikTok, so I'm banking on cowboy hats being next.

Regardless, if you see someone walking around London in full Cowboy Couture™, mind your business.
