Evisu

Won't you look at that – Evisu is celebrating its dirty thirties, and what better way to bring the party to the masses than an anniversary collection.

Love it or not, Evisu is one of the global faces of denim. Whether or not you're familiar with the hand-painted "seagull" motif, you've certainly seen it knocking about over the years. The brand is pretty much in the denim hall of fame next to Levi's red tabs, True Religion's horseshoe, and Nudie's wavy stitch.

My personal exposure to the brand growing up was at a local market. You know the ones – stocked to the teeth with every (unconvincing) fake you can imagine (I was convinced that those Yu-Gi-Oh cards were real, though.)

I never really understood what these colorful squiggles were, not until I got older and the global legacy of Evisu became known. Through the early 2000s, the brand was a dominant force, reigning from Osaka, Japan, and building deep roots in America and Europe.

During the glory days of U.K. rave culture, a pair of Evisu jeans would serve you just as well as a Moschino two-piece. I say all this to say, the Japanese denim experts have an extensive history, appearing in the thick of subcultural moments throughout the last three decades.

As it celebrates its 30th birthday, the cult brand has teamed up with SUICOKE and Palace Skateboards, aligning with the latter to showcase cross-generational stars of the British music scene.

To mark the celebration, Evisu is now launching its own 30th-anniversary multi-pocket capsule collection. Within the drop, you'll find a retro denim two-piece set, alongside hoodies and tees, all of which go heavy on colorful "seagulls."

You can shop Evisu's 30th-anniversary collection online now.
