[UPDATE] Wednesday, May 9, 2018, 6:15 a.m. EST: After the announcement earlier this week that 'Avengers: Infinity War' and Fortnite would be coming together on an exclusive game mode, we now have our first look at what it looks and feels like to play as Thanos. Watch the gameplay footage above and then read our original article below.

The biggest video game and movie of the moment are about to clash in a galactic way. Earlier this week, Epic Games revealed on Twitter that a crossover with Avengers: Infinity War’s Thanos would be coming to Fortnite. It has now arrived.

According to the Verge, the crossover event will bring in a new mode inspired by Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet. The mode will be called “Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup,” where players will be able to scour the map and try to collect the Infinity Gauntlet containing all six Infinity Stones, which when equipped turns you into Thanos and grants a significant boost of power. Information on whether the gauntlet will be randomly placed on the map or found at a distinct location is still unknown.

“Out of the blue, I get this call from Joe. And after a bit of geeking out over each other’s work, we start brainstorming these crazy ideas,” Epic creative director Donald Mustard told Entertainment Weekly. “It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about.”

The new mode will be available for free on all platforms starting tomorrow, May 8, though it’s not clear exactly how long it will last. Will you be playing? Hopefully Drake will make another record breaking return to the game.
