Nike

Brand: Nike

Season: Winter 2020

Key Pieces: While each footwear style is enticing, the Air Max 1 stands head and shoulders above the rest, in our humble opinion. The use of the Native American-inspired pattern on the Swoosh branding is top notch.

Editor’s Notes: Nike is celebrating Native American Heritage Month by releasing a new N7 collection. Designed for winter, the assortment consists of three sneakers and various apparel styles.

As Native American Heritage Month serves as a time to discuss the stories of Indigenous communities and how they are shaping modern-day North America, Nike looks to Kyrie Irving and his indigenous rediscovery.

“I’m extremely proud to be Lakota Sioux, and at the same time, I’m still in the process of diving deeper into discovering who I am and where I come from,” Irving said. “Everything that comes with my background is something I’ve always accepted, but I didn’t necessarily understand it until now. The immense pride I feel comes from this journey I’ve been on, this rediscovery I’ve made in my adult life.”

The color pattern for the Winter 2020 N7 collection references the star quilt and medallion Kyrie received during his Standing Rock Sioux Tribe naming ceremony in 2018. The multicolored motif is then featured on the Air Max 1, SB Blazer Low GT, and Irving’s Kyrie 6, in addition to hoodies, long- and short-sleeve T-shirts, and leggings.

Priced from $40 for the tees to $130 for the sneakers, you can purchase select styles from the Nike N7 winter collection by following the link below.
