Nike

Brand: UNDERCOVER x Nike

Model: Daybreak

Key Features: The updated ’80s silhouette plays with texture and proportion in a big way, merging suede and nylon on the upper, with a car spoiler-like detail jutting out of the shoe's heel. UNDERCOVER branding is present on a speckled midsole, while Nike branding can be seen on the tongue tag.

Release Date: June 7 (first two colorways), June 21 (green and triple black colorways), August 1 (yellow, red, and navy/yellow colorways)

Price: $160/ €160 / £140

Buy: Nike and select retailers such as Sneakersnstuff

Editor’s Notes: Four colorways of the UNDERCOVER x Nike Daybreak have already been released, with three more set to follow today, August 1. The yellow/black version was supposed to be released on July 18 but the drop got rescheduled to coincide with the red/black and navy/yellow pairs.

The style was first teased at Paris Fashion Week SS19 before we were given a closer look via Highsnobiety magazine Issue 18 (see above). Three colorways of the remixed runner feature in the issue's Selections section: the vivid green and red colorways, as well as a more pared-back black version.

Additional product shots below show details of the leather lining, TPU plastic heel counter, and branding on the midsole and heel. With this closer look at UNDERCOVER's flip on the Daybreak, it's hard to decide which of this or sacai's LDWaffle is the better remix of classic Nike runners.

The UNDERCOVER x Nike Daybreak has a tough act to follow after the two brands’ incredible React Element 87 last year. It will also serve as the precursor to the two sneaker styles unveiled at Paris Fashion Week FW19, which you can check out in detail here.
