Once Upon a Time in Hollywood scored the best opening weekend of Quentin Tarantino's career, and the conversation around the film continues with this new Vanity Fair interview. Leonardo DiCaprio and the director sat down to break down his character in this 14-minute clip that could double as a history of Hollywood.

Tarantino explains how Rick Dalton was inspired by leading men in the 1960s like Edd Byrnes and George Maharis, while DiCaprio breaks down the challenges of playing the washed up actor. Tarantino does most of the talking, but it's genuinely fun to watch him geek out over the craft.
