In the latest update regarding the ongoing dispute between Supreme and Married To The Mob, it appears Supreme didn’t file for federal trademarking of their iconic logo until just two months ago. Records from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office show that although Supreme has been using the logo since April 1994, they didn’t file a trademark for it until March 6, 2013 – nearly 20 years after first using it.

In the same vein, the trademark for the name Supreme wasn’t filed until 2011 and wasn’t given trademark status until 2012. The reasoning appears to be because of the difficulty in trademarking the name and logo.

We’ll have to wait and see how the case develops but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we hear more. In the meantime, check out what seminal artist Barbara Kruger had to say about the lawsuit.
