Who: Tyler, the Creator

The outfit he’s wearing: Fucking Awesome hat, white T-shirt (probably Uniqlo), shorts (no ID), Converse Chuck Low.

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Editor’s notes: It seems Tyler, the Creator can't so much as walk down the street without us eager scribes falling over one another to say something about his fit. And not without reason. Whether he's gone full bellhop on the red carpet at the GRAMMYs or, as was the case yesterday, merely talking shop in everyday duds with a bearded gentleman before grabbing dinner, the rapper seems to deliver a fresh sartorial morsel for us to chew over on the daily. In this instance, it was a blast from the past.

Keeping up with Tyler's numerous style characters over the years is no easy task. On Flower Boy we met the world's coolest grandpa, while IGOR spawned an intergalactic teddy boy that could have served as a disturbing side character on The Mighty Boosh. As has become the norm in hip-hop, his aesthetics are diligently crafted to dovetail with whichever release he happens to be working at that time. Yet back in circa 2010 — before the Chanel bags, Ushankas, and Cartier watches — Tyler, like many of us, was just another skater kid on Tumblr. At first glance, you could easily mistake the no-nonsense rig out above as being derived from those reckless OFWGKTA heydays, albeit with the addition of some extremely flossy jewelry.

When it comes to the perfect white T-shirt, we and literally every other fashion publication in the history of humanity have spoken extensively on the subject. Perhaps in the future, it would save everybody time to just show the photo above. The tee is just the right amount of oversized and the tuck lends it a neat air of sprezz. It's well known that Ty is a Uniqlo U man when it comes to his staples up top — who could argue at $15? — and it goes nicely with the equally low-key olive shorts and Converse. As a finishing touch, Tyler rocks a hat by his homie Jason Dill's Fucking Awesome.

Tyler might be one of the most influential menswear forces alive these days, but even he knows that sometimes simple is best. Cop the look and see some alternatives below.
