For AFFXWRKS, New Utility Is The Name Of The Game
Since its inception in 2018, AFFXWRKS (Previously styled as AFFIX WORKS) has operated under the mantra of creating a "new utility," and it's a goal that remains central to its latest collection.
It's a phrase that you can find printed on its newest range of signature logo hoodies and t-shirts (in a total of four languages), but it finds itself most prominently embodied in the selection of pants.
The "Crease-Dyed Corso Pant," is something like the final boss of cargo pants, taking dedication to pocket space to new limits. On the right leg of the pants is a second layer of fabric that is attached from the crotch to the hip and can be folded back to present hidden pocket space that extends around the leg. As the video below shows, this means that even the biggest of headphones can be transported without the need for a bag — a big win for those who are anti-AirPods.
The heavy cotton pants come in two colorways, with every pair featuring a different pattern thanks to a "crease-dye" technique which makes only some parts of the fabric be exposed to a colored dye. For the green pair of pants, it arrives with a matching jacket that has also undergone the experimental dying technique.
These drop along with garment-dyed t-shirts and hoodies, where the brand name has been blacked-out, and its signature velcro stash pocket that you can sew on any garments or accessory of your choosing.
These uber-functional pieces are the product of a group of industry insiders. This includes Central Saint Martins alumnus and co-founder Taro Ray, London-based stylist, and creative consultant Stephen Mann, and Gimme Five founder-cum-Stüssy UK Director Michael Kopelman.
What began as a show on the pirate radio station Know-Wave, under the name AFFIX WORKS soon turned into a fully-fledged fashion brand. And since its hyped first-ever release at Dover Street Market in 2018, it has further perfected blending stylistic sensibilities to outdoor wear — something which is clear to see in its newest selection.
