HIP

British history meets Japanese design sensibilities as HIP connects with BEAMS PLUS on an exclusive Spring/Summer 2022 collection – and rugby has never looked so good.

Sporting uniforms have informed the world of fashion forever. Your favorite piece of rave-ready vintage Polo Ralph Lauren, that experimental Stone Island jacket you refuse to let go of, Errolson Hugh's intense levels of function at ACRONYM, and Marni's jersey tote bag – it all begins with sportswear.

For HIP's Spring/Summer 2022 collaborative collection alongside iconic Japanese label BEAMS PLUS, dives head-first into this connection between sportswear and fashion, tackling a niche in old school British rugby uniforms.

Setting their eyes on the on and off-field styling of 1800s Northern English rugby style. A region renowned for rugby, producing some of the world's best talents, it's rich in heritage and, as such, rich in sporting style.

Marrying this Northern legacy with BEAMS PLUS' Japanese sensibilities results in a five-piece collection that prioritizes high quality and timelessness. The result? A Harris Tweed patchwork blazer in shades of navy, rich navy Corduroy 2 pleat trousers, a classic striped bang collar rugby shirt (like your favorite RL piece, but better), lightly-colored heavy sweatpants, and schoolboy socks.

Though these pieces could easily slot into the crowd at your local rugby club, BEAMS' design language elevates each piece, creating effortless standalone pieces as well as well-rounded full looks.

The BEAMS PLUS for HIP Spring/Summer 2022 collection is scheduled to release online on March 25. Improved rugga skills not included.
