Charlie Brooker is taking a break from writing the next season of his dystopian TV series Black Mirror because, given that the world is currently plagued by coronavirus, we're dealing with enough as it is.

When Radio Times asked Brooker for a season six update, he said that right now probably wasn't a good time to ask Netflix viewers to binge a show about the world and its values being savaged.

“I’ve been busy doing things," he said. "I don’t know what I can say about what I’m doing and not doing. At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on any of those [Black Mirror episodes]."

He is working on some comedy projects, though. "I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh.”

For anyone unaware of Brooker's pre-Black Mirror antics, get a feel for his personal brand of comedy via the (extremely British) video below.
