In the early ’00s, when TV was still king, Jimmy Choo’s luxury heels were regularly name-dropped on the NY-based comedy-drama Sex & the City. With enviable wardrobes, the influential cast created a pop culture tidal wave. The zeitgeist moment soon became a weekly rundown of enviable designer must-haves, cementing Jimmy Choo as a high-end essential.

On paper, you may not have imagined Jimmy Choo’s high fashion sensibility working so well with Timberland’s outdoor work heritage, but the two complement each other with effortless ease. Fusing red carpet glamour with outdoor utility, this eye-catching collab combines elements from each brand’s personality, creating a unique release.

Originally introduced in 1973, Timberland’s OG staple 6-inch boot rose to prominence during the 90s. A favourite on construction sites and music video sets, the waterproof boot was a key part of the NY hip-hop aesthetic. With its sturdy and bold silhouette, the boot was the finishing touch for outfits worn by rappers such as Nas and groups including The Wu-Tang Clan and Mobb Deep. The perfect complement to their oversized fits, the outdoor-leaning style held a serious stake in hip-hop currency, which has also seen Timberland collaborate with brands such as Supreme, Off-White and Aimé Leon Dore.

Jimmy Choo, Jimmy Choo

Fresh for 2020, Jimmy Choo has infused Timberland’s iconic boot with luxury details and a sense of playful, unexpected opulence. The distinctive boot comes in 3 iterations, featuring both minimal and maximal opulent touches, including glitter spray detailing, crystal applications and a limited edition stand-out featuring all-over Swarovski embellishments. With its solid roots, the 6-inch boot has never looked so decadent.

“To collaborate with a brand like Timberland allows Jimmy Choo to explore a new avenue and take part in a different conversation’’, says Sandra Choi, Jimmy Choo’s Creative Director. ’’I love to mix it up by getting together with different creative minds combining our DNA to create a beautiful and surprising product with unexpected links to the roots of both our brands. Timberland’s outdoor work heritage combined with our high fashion sensibility creates something really exciting and unique in the market.”

Jimmy Choo, Jimmy Choo

Known for its distinctive, fashion-forward style and exceptional craftsmanship, Jimmy Choo has become a pioneer in the art of celebrity dressing and red-carpet style, translating that into an authoritative collection of off duty boots and trainers. This collaboration takes that same mindset, juxtaposing it with a rough and rugged classic; a classic that also looks to sustainability. As part of their pledge to plant 50 million trees over the next five years, Timberland will plant a tree for every boot produced for this collaboration.

The collection will be available globally at selected Jimmy Choo stores, jimmychoo.com and Timberland from September 9th.
