It’s a sneaker slam dunk for MCM and PUMA as the two German brands come together for yet another exciting collaboration this Fall. The luxury fashion house teamed up with PUMA back in 2018 to reimagine a special edition of PUMA’s iconic Suede, and this soon-to-be-released series centering on the Slipstream Lo takes it to a whole new level.

Basketball isn’t just a sport – it’s a lifestyle, and for MCM the relationship between luxury and sport has been a key focus since the get-go.

"The collaboration tells a great story of the heritage of both brands, but also how important culture is for MCM and the connection to all relevant topics for our consumer – from sport, music, to the influence of street-culture for luxury brands," explains Dirk Schönberger, MCM’s Global Brand Officer.

Split into three separate drops, the PUMA x MCM Slipstream Lo is an ode to the all-American game, celebrating the bold and raucous glamour that basketball offers, on and off the court. "The love affair between luxury and sport is clear in this second collaboration we’ve created with  MCM, with the classic details of both German brands visible in the design and construction," said Heiko Desens, PUMA’s Global Creative Director.

This first drop, titled Show Love, features a one-of-a-kind MCM reinvention of the court classic. Adorned with the hallmark cognac Visetos Monogram and sprinkled with MCM’s house codes of design, the yellow/brown hue of the shoe is sure to stand out, whether for sport or style. With the bright aesthetic of the sneaker seeking to capture the charisma and exhilaration of the sport, MCM and PUMA called on basketball superstar-in-the-making, Mikey Williams, to be the face of the global campaign.

A triple threat collab, October will see the release of the second drop Show Up, which is inspired by MCM’s striking Cubic Monogram, while the third and final drop of the collaboration will be launched in the first half of 2023 – a luminous take on athletic classics, featuring ready-to-wear and an eye-catching edition of PUMA’s TRC Blaze Court. So stay tuned!

The first drop of the PUMA x MCM Slipstream Lo will be available globally from September 8 at MCM Worldwide in-store and online, and from September 10 globally in select PUMA Stores.
