The Nike LeBron 9 “Watch the Throne,” as the name suggests, takes inspiration from Kanye West and JAY-Z’s legendary 2011 studio album of the same name. Originally a one-off player exclusive, the sneaker returns now for its first-ever public release.
Back in the late ’00s and early 2010s, basketball shoes from the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Kobe Bryant were more popular than ever. The “WTT” LeBron 9 even once fetched five figures on the resale market. While that popularity has waned and given way to retro runners first, and then the Nike Dunk’s latest golden era, fans of both LeBron James and basketball sneakers will be excited about a chance to own a piece of history.
The Nike LeBron 9 “WTT” features a predominantly black base colorway with carbon fiber detailing on the side panels. Contrasting gold accents are visible on the lateral and medial Swoosh, speckled midsole, and opulent lace dubre, which is a nod to Watch the Throne’s cover art. The laces and sock liner are colorful, providing another pop of color against the monotone base.
