Editor’s Notes: Opening Ceremony has a strong history of collaborating with Vans dating back to 2014. Their upcoming project, however, is particularly special, as the February 2021 capsule will be the first OC x Vans collab to launch globally.

Opening Ceremony's new Vans collaboration consists of two styles, each optioned in a pair of colorways. First up, we find Carol Lim, Humberto Leon, and company reinventing Vans' iconic checkerboard pattern on the Authentic.

"Vans has been a long-time creative partner of ours, and we're so excited to collaborate on their iconic print this season,” said Opening Ceremony Creative Director Humberto Leon. “For this new capsule collection, Carol and I are inspired to reinvent the checkerboard, taking a new graphic approach to Vans' classic pattern."

The checkerboard motif has been transformed into abstract snake and leopard patterns for the 2021 project, showcased on the iconic Authentic model in black and red colorways, as well as a range of apparel.

The second style arrives in the form of the Authentic QLT. Offered in blue and pink iterations, the low-top sneaker features a quilted vamp and lateral stitching, with a woven Opening Ceremony patch on the heel.

Again, this is the first time Opening Ceremony x Vans sneakers will be available globally, launching on Vans.com and at Vans stores and select retailers February 19.
