The world is still reeling from the massive trolling of Frank Ocean’s “album drop” last week, but he's not the the only artist who failed to deliver on a promised record. For the past few weeks, Travis Scott has been assuring fans that his second full-length, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, was due to arrive on Friday, August 5.
The weekend came and went with no album in sight, and Travis took to Twitter to apologize for its delay due to technical difficulties. To make up for it, though, he’s just announced a massive free launch party in LA this Friday.
Called the .WAV Party, the event is being thrown by Apple Music, a seeming confirmation of the deal first hinted at last month. At the party, guests will be treated to a live premiere of “Pick Up the Phone,” his upcoming single featuring Young Thug and Quavo. Also on hand will be James Turrell, hip-hop’s new resident artist, who has created an installation that will be on display at the venue.
Scott has promised that the party will officially mark the beginning of “Bird Szn,” which is about as informative as the album title itself. Whatever it means, it promises to be lit. Check out all the event details below:
Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight drops this Friday, August 12 (maybe).
