Entering the world of knitted running shoes is adidas as they reveal the launch of the adiZero Primeknit, their first one-piece upper performance runner, using a new seamless engineering technology making the complex beautifully simple.

The shoe ensures lightweight comfort and less waste - traditional sports shoes are constructed from several different pieces, whereas this breakthrough method digitally knits the entire upper in just one. It performs and supports where it counts and is needed in every part of the shoe, as knitted fused yarn fine-tunes all this. Although having a complex looking, yet minimalistic build of no lining or reinforcements, the fused yarn provides sturdy build and ventilation from the digitally-knitted distinct grid patterns, which wraps seamlessly around your foot. James Carnes, Head of Design for Sport Performance at adidas, has stated:

“adiZero Primeknit harnesses groundbreaking technology the likes of which have never been seen before. Seamless engineering technology has been three years in the making – to launch it at the home of the 2012 Olympic Games seemed a natural fit — an extension of one of the great sporting spectacles on earth.”

Knitted from the red and white colours that feature on this summer’s adidas athletes, a limited run of 2,012 individually numbered pairs are to be released. This is a UK exclusive and will be available from July 27th to August 12th at the temporary adidas 10 Newburgh Street store, London W1.
