adidas Consortium continues its Sneaker Exchange program with WISH from Atlanta and Sneakerboy from Australia.

Previously, the initiative brought together such retailers as Kith and Copenhagen's Naked, as well as Social Status and Sneakersnstuff, all for limited sneaker releases. The initiative is set to bring further releases for each month of 2017, all utilizing the network of Consortium accounts around the world.

For this latest collaboration, both partners were able to access a wide variety of of materials and production technologies from adidas, and the result brings novel glow-in-the-dark detailing to two of adidas's hottest silhouettes.

Although the two shops have never worked together in the past, below we speak with both Patrick Diaz from WISH and Chris Kyvetos from Sneakerboy.

How was the process of designing between two retailers?

The process of design was very natural and developed in a very organic way. The idea initially came from the mock up render of the Pure Boost where the laces pointed in a upward direction, resembling the tentacles of a jellyfish. That immediately began the concept for the project as a whole. With Australia being recognized for beautiful aquatic life and Atlanta housing rare jellyfish in the aquarium, we knew we had something special.

Walk us through the jellyfish execution.

Aesthetically, Sneakerboy and Wish were aligned to create an all-white pack so that the details can be noticed in natural light. The all-white materials are unique in and of themselves, really allowing you to see all the intricate details of the fabrics, including the transparent wovens used on both shoes.

But what really makes this pack special is what happens when the pack is in the dark. The full glow of the shoes is really rare and special and showcases the narrative behind the project: the "jelly-fish" glowing in its most natural habitat. The contrast of an all-white shoe glowing in the dark gives you that “wow” factor and allows you to appreciate the design concept.

What did you learn from one another during the process?

The biggest take away was the ability to create and design together while being in completely different parts of the world. We believe that is what is so special about the Sneaker Exchange concept as a whole, allowing you to go from not knowing each other, to now becoming good friends while designing something really cool along the way, that is really the best part of it all.

Have you had the chance to visit the other's respective shop?

Unfortunately not yet, but we are all certain that we will do so in the future. We may not have been in each other's shop, but we are still able to bring an idea to life through adidas Consortium and tell a story to the world.

Which other retailer partners are you excited to see from the adidas Consortium Sneaker Exchange?

We can agree that we are excited to see what Packer Shoes and Solebox bring to the table with their partner - as both are powerhouses in the industry and produce amazing projects.

Now check out the best adidas sneakers of 2017 (so far).
