What We’re Saying: For its latest collaboration with New Balance, AURALEE is taking it back to where it all began. The Tokyo-based brand will soon be releasing two new colorways of the R_C2, following an initial launch in 2019.

Once again in partnership with New Balance's Tokyo Design Studio, AURALEE has updated its original R_C2 collab with classic details in a modern and practical way. The SS21 AURALEE x New Balance R_C2 is optioned in two enticing colorways, featuring a ripstop grid pattern on the upper, which is then lined with a layer of GORE-TEX for durability, waterproofing, and breathability. The sneaker is also outfitted with an ENCAP REVEAL midsole to offer improved shock absorption and cushioning, as well as an anti-slip rubber outsole typically used in trail shoes.

AURALEE's new R_C2 originally debuted during the brand's digital presentation for Paris Fashion Week in July 2021. The collaboration will be available online and at select stores in Japan — such as T-HOUSE New Balance and New Balance Roppongi — beginning Friday, March 19.

Remain on the lookout for more from AURALEE and New Balance, as this clean take on the ever-popular 550 is slated to drop later in the year.
