Earlier this month, Meek Mill was sentenced to two to four years in prison for a parole violatation. Many prominent rappers have come to his defence, most notably JAY-Z, who penned an op-ed for the New York Times decrying the judge’s decision. In an unexpected move at his concert this weekend, Drake expressed his support for the Philadelphia rapper.

Noticing a fan wearing a “Free Meek Mill” T-shirt at a ‘Boy Meets World’ Tour stop in Melbourne, Australia, he said, “Free Meek Mill. You right.” Check out the footage below.

Drake’s show of support for Meek Mill is in stark contrast to the longstanding beef between the two rappers. It all began in 2015 when Meek accused Drake of using a ghostwriter for their collaborative track “R.I.C.O.,” which appeared on Meek’s 2015 album, Dreams Worth More Than Money. The allegations led to several diss tracks, including Drake’s “Charged Up” and “Back to Back.”

Speaking about the beef in an interview earlier this year, Drake admitted, “It’s not something that I’m proud of because it took just as much of an emotional toll on me.” Stay tuned to see if Drake and Meek Mill finally quash their beef once and for all.
