In honor of the 20th anniversary of its Japanese designed predecessor, the New Balance 580, New Balance has partnered with Ball and Buck to revive the 585, after a lengthy hiatus.
Dubbed "Sporting Gentleman," the pair draws inspiration from Ball and Buck's signature plaid, which is representative of the Boston-based retail brand and lifestyle. Therefore, the two have taken design cues from traditional plaids of heritage hunting estates and chosen to go with natural, earthy tones of navy and orange to adhere to the brand's roots.
The Ball and Buck x New Balance miUSA 585 "Sporting Gentleman" in turn features signature Ball and Buck leather on the "N" logo, tongue and collar strap; Ball and Buck duck canvas on the underlays and insert label; Ball and Buck plaid canvas on the vamp and collar; and a signature Ball and Buck camouflage pattern printed underneath the gum rubber outsole.
Look for the collaborative sneaker from Ball and Buck and New Balance ($238 USD) to become available in-store and online at Ball and Buck (144-B Newbury Street, Boston, Massachusetts) on August 27, then globally beginning September 17.
New Balance also recently partnered with menswear designer Toddy Snyder on the 998 “Black and Tan.”
