Brand: New Balance

Model: 997 and 997S

Key Features: To celebrate its annual “Grey Day” sneaker holiday, New Balance is releasing two — you guessed it — grey versions of its popular 997 model. The first is the original 997, which sees the iconic “N” logo on its side replaced with the embroidered “New Balance Made in the USA” text usually found on the tongue of the sneaker. The second is the 997S, which is a sportier and more modern take on the same silhouette. The OG midsole has been replaced with an ENCAP REVEAL midsole, whereas the upper is kept pretty much intact.

Editor’s Notes: To celebrate Grey Day 2019, New Balance is releasing the made-in-USA 997 and 997 Sport. Over time, models from New Balance’s premium 990 range have become synonymous with grey, after the brand first elected a grey color scheme for the NB620 in 1980.
