Editor’s Notes: Nike and French football club Paris Saint-Germain’s partnership is in full swing following the initial Air Jordan 1 and 5 drops last year and the recently-dropped co-branded Nike Air Jordan 6. Now, Nike has officially announced the release date for the collaborative Air Jordan 1 low, which will hit shelves on August 20.
The collaborative sneaker was officially unveiled at Paris Fashion Week alongside the AJ 6, Jordan Mars 270, and Jordan React Havoc, as well as a range of apparel.
“There’s a phrase ‘Paname’ on some of the product. That’s what the Parisian youth refer to as ‘the city on the edges of the city.’ They told us that the energy and the youth culture is found at the edges of the city,” says Jordan Brand VP of design David Creech.
PSG and Jordan Brand inked an initial three-year deal, so we can expect to see more products being rolled out over the duration of the contract. The new collection was slated to start dropping periodically in late June, with the Air Jordan 6 set to arrive in July. With the arrival of product shots of the Air Jordan 1 Low, it seems a release for that style is not too far off either.
