Editor’s Notes: Studio FY7 is the latest label to team up with New Balance on a collaborative 992, following the model’s re-introduction to the market early this year. The Paris-based, 360-degree creative agency was founded by Younes Bendjima, who has used the New Balance 992 as a canvas to celebrate his native Algeria, as well as its influence on international architecture.

The studio’s caption on Instagram reads: “The suede outer shoe serves as a reflection of the colouration and curvature of the dunes of southern Algeria, which is contrasted by black circular cutaways that symbolize the ancient architecture of Ghardaia, which heavily influenced the work of Le Corbusier. The shoe is a reminder that no matter where you walk in the world, you can, and should, be proud to carry your history and heritage wherever you go.”

The New Balance 992 has seen several high-profile collaborations this year and the model has played a huge part in New Balance’s increased relevance in the sneaker world. Collaborations with the likes of Joe FreshGoods, Kith, WTAPS, and JJJJound all sold out immediately after dropping and are some of the most expensive New Balance sneakers on the resell market.
