From the Margiela Fusion to Under Armour and A$AP Rocky's Osiris D3-indebted SRLo, 2018 saw a spate of crazy sneakers hit the market. Now, one designer has attempted to gazump them all with a wild — and seemingly unofficial — hybrid that combines Kanye West's YEEZY 500 and the Balenciaga Triple S.
If we're being honest, the shoe — while utterly gratuitous — doesn't look half bad, marrying the two super-chunk designs rather well. Chunk squared. Arriving in a blush colorway, the paneled upper, which evokes the 500, is perched atop a stacked midsole that is undeniably indebted to the Triple S. If it is the work of a customizer, you'd consider it a job done well enough.
The kick, which is unfortunately listed as "the Hotline Dad Sneaker," is made by Jeffrey Campbell and can be copped on Shopbop for $135. Somewhat pompously, the website states that the shoe "takes dad sneakers to new heights," yet fails to mention the YEEZY 500 or Balenciaga Triple S anywhere in the notes.
We reached out to Jeffrey Campbell for comment. Stay posted for updates.
