Last week, Milan welcomed the opening of a new NikeLab location.

Located in what was formerly a bank in the city’s North, the new retail space will be home to Nike’s ongoing Lab projects, as well as designer collaborations like the recent project between NikeLab and Stone Island, which launched in the new space.

Certain reminders of the building’s previous life remain intact, not limited to a row of vaults in the basement that will be used as functional displays in the future, as well as the coffered ceiling.

The store also features furnishings from Italian designer Martino Gamper, who previously worked with Nike for “The Nature of Motion” exhibition at Milan Design Week 2016. Using recycled and repurposed sneakers that have been conglomerated into fittings throughout the store, Gamper also designed what he calls the “anti-chair,” the modular seat shown in the gallery above.
