New York-based artist CJ Hendry is best known for transforming her fascination with contemporary material culture into large scale, photorealistic black and white drawings of consumer goods. Not only has Hendry created custom works of art for celebrity clientele which includes Kanye West and Floyd Mayweather, but she often times involves aspects of social justice with her projects.

For example, last year CJ destroyed a pair of Nike Air MAGs by dipping the sneakers in black paint. She then created an ink drawing of the result and ultimately auctioned it to charity to purchase shoes for Sheltering Arms, which serves youth in New York.

The above video highlights the making of Hendry’s #SneakerDead project, as well as thousands of sneakers that were purchased for NY youth, as a result.

Not NYC, not LA.
