LMVH has finally announced which lucky designer has taken home the top going of 2017’s edition of the LVMH Prize. A jury that included the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, JW Anderson, Phoebe Philo of Celine, and Louis Vuitton’s Nicholas Ghesquière awarded French designer Marine Serre with a 300,000 euro (or $335,475 at current exchange) grant to propel her business as well as mentorship from the LVMH group.
At today’s award ceremony, Rihanna was on hand to honor the young Parisian designer with the prize, and it’s hardly surprising given the infamous badgal counts fashion icon among her long list of achievements.
Alongside the main prize, LVMH also gives out a Special Prize to a runner-up and this year’s secondary prize as awarded to Kozaburo Akasaka of KOZABURO. He wins a 150,000 euro grant and a year-long mentorship program from the LVMH group.
The fourth edition of the LVMH Prize saw over 1,200 young talents from 90 countries compete, and past winners have included Grace Wales Bonner and Marques’Almeida.
