Model: Air Huarache Gripp QS
Key Features: While the Huarache’s heel cage remains unchanged, the remainder of the shoe is almost unrecognizable. The forefoot is concealed by a translucent sail that clips onto the midsole, while the shoe’s collar is refitted with a snug sock-like upper. Via the images above, we are now privy to the two “Sail/Team Orange/White/Wolf Grey” and “Black/Olive Canvas/Indigo Burst” colorways.
Release Date: October 12
Editor’s Notes: Designed by Tinker Hatfield and debuted in 1991, the Nike Air Huarache was accompanied by an advertising campaign that asked, “Have you hugged your foot today?”
Now, 27 years later, Nike is releasing the Air Huarache Gripp, a bigger, built-up version of the original Huarache. Its translucent, big-logo clad shroud is detachable and protects your feet from the elements, while an outer bootie can be zipped on and off.
With tech and utility wear rising in popularity of late, the Air Huarache Gripp looks to be a solid addition to any fashion-forward utilitarian’s rotation.
