First featured back in July 2014, Amsterdam's "The Loft" recently returned with a new look. A concept shop that combines pop-up store with a lived-in interior layout, customers are presented with an informal retail experience, more aspirational home than hard sell. Located in the city's Vaudeville Theatre, produced with assistance from The Playing Circle, the store, open for only three weeks, carried a variety of lighting, textiles and furniture, from '50s Wegner style armchairs to beautifully woven Moroccan Beni Ouarain rugs. As the store describes, "objects that stay close to their origin...design that draws you to the edge of your seat." While the pop-up may no longer be in operation, The Loft webstore and permanent showroom should offer plenty to keep you wanting.
By appointment only: Singel 512, 1017AX Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
