Editor’s Notes: California retailer UNDEFEATED is rereleasing its Nike Kobe 4 Protro today. Per the brand's Instagram account, the "Black Mamba" colorway will be dropping as a SNKRS exclusive — the local LA community will get first access to reserve a pair, which they'll be able to collect from the flagship La Brea store.
Additionally, the rest of the pack will be re-releasing in all colorways, but in limited quantities. All silhouettes feature iridescent patent leater upper, co-branded tongue with signature Kobe logo and UNDEFEATED strike, and Zoom Air midsoles. The numbers 8 and 24 appear on the heel (due to 8 and 24 being Kobe’s jersey numbers while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers).
Sale proceeds will go to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation in memory of Kobe and Gianna, alhougth the brand has not specified what percentage will be donated.
When it was first teased a year ago, the Nike Kobe 4 Protro was the Swoosh’s latest in a series of remastered Kobe signature shoes. The shoes stay true to the original design, only adding new, modern-day tech to bring them up to speed on the performance side.
The collaborative kicks come in four NBA-inspired colorways — including a purple and gold Los Angeles Lakers-specific pair — paying homage to some of Kobe's most memorable career achievements.
Pairs of the UNDEFEATED x Nike Kobe 4 Protro were given out to America’s top-ranked high school basketball players who recently participated in the Drew League’s Skills Challenge Game.
