Key Features: The adidas Consortium Ultraboost 19 comes in three colorways for three international markets, with each inspired by retro adidas runners. The Asian edition is inspired by the ZX 9000 and comes in eye-catching teal, the European release is white and green like many early ’90s adidas runners, and the US-exclusive version comes in a dark blue and gold inspired by the 1980 SL 80.
Release Date: May 20
Price: $220 / €220
Buy: Exclusive to adidas Consortium retailers in Asia, Europe, and the US
Editor’s Notes: adidas Consortium has unveiled its first ever take on the Ultraboost 19. The three retro colorways will each be released in a different world region, similar to the recent YEEZY Boost 350 V2 drop. Asia is getting a teal colorway, Europe gets white/green, and the US is receiving blue/gold.
Most exciting is that the trio of Ultraboost 19s come with the Three Stripes’ Torsion tech, which was launched in 1989. The move is part of a larger adidas Consortium effort for Spring/Summer 2019 to celebrate the old-school sneaker tech.
The system was designed in 1988 by Jacques Chassaing, creator of the ZX series of running shoes. It works by providing a bridge between the rear and front of the foot, increasing stability and support for each section of the foot while letting the different sections move independently of one another.
