Editor’s Notes: Germany-based sneaker retailer asphaltgold has joined forces with ASICS Tiger to pay homage to their city, Darmstadt. Known as the center of Art Nouveau, the silhouette is dubbed “Jugendstil,” an artistic style that arose in Germany around the mid-1890s. Inspired by the artist colony of Mathildenhöhe, the shoe is essentially based on that architectural masterpiece.

Due to its exclusivity, asphaltgold has chosen an unconventional type of release, stating:

“From Friday, March 16 at 11 a.m., you can buy a save-your-size-ticket in our AGC-Store. This ticket costs 10 €, has to be paid cash and serves as a down payment for your desired size. On Saturday from 12 o’clock each ticket owner can pick up his Gel-DS Trainer OG, provided that the remaining amount was paid, at the release event in the Designhouse Darmstadt.”

Furthermore, the shoe will be presented in a specially designed metal box, in addition to the branded flat laces, with two more round laces in the colors of “Rose Taupe” and “Evening Sand.”
