Editor’s Notes: Converse and Louie Lopez have teamed up to drop his first signature skate shoe, the Louie Lopez Pro OX. The child skate prodigy turned superstar by 23-years-old, has already earned multiple gold, silver and bronze Street League medals, will compete in the 2020 Olympics, and now has his name on a sneaker.
“I wouldn’t even say as a kid, even when you’re an adult. That’s why it’s always been so special. It is not something everyone gets, cause it’s not easy to get”, Lopez says in a statement. “As soon as I let the family know I was getting a shoe, it felt like we were all getting one. Our last name was on a shoe… that was surreal.”
Alongside the Converse design team, Louie crafted a shoe perfectly fitting his skate style by blending three archived Converse silhouettes. Beginning with the Chuck Taylor All-Star outsole—a Converse element Louie exclusively skates with as it helps maximizes grip—the silhouette touts trimmed foxing tape, a perforated tongue for maximum breathability, a dual density Ortholite sock liner with Nike Zoom air bag for comfort and a reworked collar to optimize heel lock down.
The Louie Lopez Pro OX is be available now in Black and White at Converse.com for $70 USD.
