JAY-Z and Kanye West‘s Watch the Throne has returned to Spotify, although it appears the full album is only available to those with U.S. accounts. The collaborative album was originally removed from the streaming service in April 2017, “at the request of the artist,” according to representatives of JAY-Z. JAY-Z is of course one of the major stakeholders in TIDAL, in direct competition with Spotify.

Kanye West notably terminated his exclusivity agreement with TIDAL in July 2017 over a contract dispute. According to the rapper’s lawyers, the company reportedly withheld roughly $3 million in payments from West.

It’s unclear why exactly Watch the Throne has returned to Spotify, but when JAY-Z and Beyoncé released their surprise album EVERYTHING IS LOVE back in June, it was made available on Spotify’s paid tier and Apple Music a few days after it dropped as a TIDAL exclusive.
