There was always going to be a lot of hype around the follow up to Jordan Peele's Get Out, but if Twitter reactions are any indication, Us might actually exceed expectations.

The film took SXSW's coveted opening premiere slot, and the reviews coming in since Friday suggest we are in for another genre-redefining, completely terrifying, “horror masterpiece.”

Audiences in Austin appeared both shaken by the execution of Us and awestruck by Lupita Nyong’o's jaw-dropping performance. The psychological horror/thriller follows Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong'o, Shahadi Wright Joseph, and Evan Alex as the Wilson family, whose beach vacation is thrown into chaos by funhouse-mirror versions of themselves.

If you've seen Get Out you'll know Peele is capable of inciting fear like no other, but judging by the Twitter reactions coming out of the premiere, he has a few new tricks up his sleeve. Take a look at what some of the most shook audience members had to say about Us.

Be prepared

It's being called a “horror masterpiece”
