Last week, up-and-coming grime rapper Novelist made a huge splash on a track from electronic duo Chase & Status. This week he’s made an equally large splash, though one in a markedly differently pool. The rapper has been unveiled as the chief designer of a collaborative line with cult LA brand Joyrich.
Joyrich’s apparel has attracted attention from the likes of Nicki Minaj and Wiz Khalifa, so it only seems natural for the brand to hand the creative reigns to someone within the world of hip-hop. The collection was inspired by Novelist’s love of workwear, which resulted in pieces like the oversized denim jackets and trousers and accessories like trucker hats and bandanas. The Joyrich logo is proudly stitched on the jacket pockets and hats, and some pieces feature the words “Mmm yeah,” in what is supposedly Novelist’s trademark catchphrase.
