Kanye West's YEEZY brand is looking to expand into the rapper's hometown of Chicago. According to a tweet by West, the label is getting an office in the Windy City. The brand is headquartered in Calabasas, California.
Suggestions that YEEZY would be expanding first came about back in April, when the rapper tweeted he would be opening additional offices in New York, London, and Wyoming. While such developments have yet to be confirmed, it would appear West has prioritized his hometown for the time being.
In another tweet, the rapper claimed he will be teaching a course at the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC) and the American Academy of Art. Prior to his start in music, West briefly attended the American Academy of Art, where he studied painting, and Chicago State University's English department, where his late mother Donda was a professor.
He dropped out of both, to his mother's displeasure, and later cheekily called his debut album The College Dropout. In 2015, West also received an honorary doctorate from the AIC.
Elsewhere, the rapper announced plans to restore Chicago's Regal Theater and put on a comedy jam. And after we all thought rumors he would creative direct the Pornhub Awards were an elaborate joke, maybe Kanye does have a future in comedy.
