Kanye West was seen in Calabasas yesterday wearing a long-sleeve tee depicting Laura Dern’s character from 1986 David Lynch neo-noir movie, Blue Velvet.
The film is considered one of the best of the decade (check out the trailer here), achieving cult status and cementing the auteur’s status as a master of surrealism.
In a 2014 interview with The Guardian, Lynch revealed he met Kanye and discussed directing the music video for Yeezus track “Blood On The Leaves.” Sadly, the project never materialized as Lynch admitted he failed to “come up with any [good] ideas.”
Kanye paired the arresting white long-sleeve tee with billowing white pants and YEEZY desert boots. The amorphous, oversized outline of the ‘fit evokes the kind of silhouette that West has been pushing since YEEZY season 1, which he rounds off with a heavy gold chain. Intriguingly, it looks like West has grown a beard — might that be a hint towards his forthcoming YANDHI look?
West was later seen in the same outfit with spouse Kim Kardashian West, who opted for a sheer snakeskin turtle neck dress with matching snakeskin clutch. Notably, her $30,000 Dior bag was nowhere to be seen.
