As reported by TMZ, Kanye West has donated $150,000 to the family of Jemel Roberson, the 26-year-old Chicago security guard who was shot and killed by police this past week.

According to the GoFundMe page set up by Jemel’s family to cover his burial costs, Kanye has made 10 separate donations of $15,000. The total amount raised is now over $300,000, far surpassing the goal of $150,000.

According to reports, Roberson was working security at a bar in the early hours of the morning when a customer opened fire, wounding four people. Roberson subdued the gunman, but when the police arrived, they shot and killed him, despite reports that witnesses tried to warn them that Roberson was security.

The officer responsible has been placed on administrative leave, according to local media.
