Despite being a super exclusive, invite-only soiree, a teenager from North Colorado managed to squeeze his way into Kanye West's ye listening party in Wyoming last weekend. How did he do it? Well, in an interview given to triple j’s Drive, 17-year-old Connor Tacy said it was pretty simple — all he needed was a car, a hotel room, and a chance encounter.

A huge West fan, Tacy was determined to follow him to Wyoming. So after learning "through a Pusha-T interview" that West was staying "at the Amangani Hotel," he hopped in a car and drove six hours to try his luck. While West's residence of choice was a little beyond a teenager’s income, Tacy managed to score a room in a hotel close by. And then what?

As luck would have it, Tacy bumped into Tony Williams, the Grammy-winning vocalist who also happens to be West's cousin. “I spoke with him,” said Tacy. “He saw I was wearing a bunch of YEEZY clothing, YEEZY 500s, Calabasas hat, pants. He said, ‘Are you going to the listening party?’ I said, ‘No, I’m trying to get to it.’ He’s like, ‘You know what? I’ll get you on the list, I’ll get you in.’”

And, that — in a nutshell — was that. Naturally, Tacy couldn't believe his luck until he was actually standing inside the venue. But once inside, he made good use of his time, chatting to the man of the hour himself.

Great going, Connor! You can listen to the full interview here.

Now, Kanye West’s ‘ye’ is intimate and insightful, but far from his best work.
