Editor’s Notes: UK's size? looks to the far east as they team up with ASICS to reinterpret the Japanese footwear brand's Gel-Lyte OG silhouette.
Taking cues from its Japanese roots, the model, dubbed "36 Views," reflects the paintings of celebrated Ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai, as the sneaker's palette picks hues from his legendary block-printed series that captured Mount Fuji from various viewpoints around Japan.
The water-resistant suede and ripstop upper draw reference to the Great Wave and other bodies of water featured in several of the paintings from the series of Hokusai's works, while the pink tone found throughout is pulled from the seasonal cherry blossoms that sprout from the trees during spring.
With a limited run of only 500 pairs available worldwide, there will be a free gift with every purchase in store of a limited edition print by Japanese animator Segawa Thirty-Seven of GIFMAGAZINE.
