Highsnobiety is proud to introduce Reconstruct, the Dutch fashion collective who recently put pen to paper with Converse to reimagine the classic Chuck Taylor All Star low-top.
Converse’s One Star has been garnering a lot of headlines recently, thanks to collaborations with Tyler, The Creator and Stussy, but one Dutch brand is putting the Chuck Taylor back in the spotlight.
Reconstruct’s Franken-Chucks made their debut during Amsterdam Fashion Week SS18, when the label showed its second-ever collection. Founded by six female fashion designers, Laura Aanen, Zara Asmail, Alyssa Groeneveld, Kim Kivits, Michelle Lievaart and Sanne Verkleij, the brand is still clearly in its infancy, but is already showing promise within the Amsterdam landscape.
The innovative DIY designs combine contrasting uppers, lacing together torn-apart panels from the Chuck Taylor, resulting in some of the most interesting customs we’ve seen to date. Check out some shots from the runway below.
Speaking to Alyssa Groeneveld over email, the designer revealed that the group has already “encountered a very strong demand for these shoes from Skepta, Ariana Grande, A$AP mob and others, who all wanted a pair.”
Stay posted for more coverage on the brand.
