Right now, the Louis Vuitton heat is all down to one guy, Virgil Abloh. But let's forget about the main man for a moment and take a bit of time to appreciate a new take on a classic. These customized Louis Vuitton keepalls are a thing of beauty.
While Abloh has taken on a decidedly lower-key approach to LV than its classic all-over logo print, vintage Louis still has a place in our hearts, as highlighted in our recent round-up of the best vintage Louis Vuitton accessories. This new travel series from LV and fellow Parisian designer Jay Ahr, however, takes the look to the next level, with worldwide appeal.
Having launched with a ready-to-wear women's collection in 2005, Jonathan Riss of Jay Ahr's signature style uses unique embroidery on luxe fabrics. It's this trademark that makes these keepalls so special — the designs you see on the pieces below aren't painted but embroidered onto the bag's canvas body.
Using flag motifs, the series includes design inspiration from the likes of David Bowie and a skull & crossbone, but our favorite from the collection boast different national flags. With options repping everywhere from Albania to Japan, the bags are made in France and come with the alarming but to-be-expected price point of around $10,000.
